BS EN 13501-1 fire ratings apply to complete products or systems, not individual materials on their own.
A fire classification (such as B-s1,d0) is only given after the full product assembly has been tested.This covers everything in the build — including the substrate, coatings, adhesives, fixings, backing, and finishes.
Fire performance depends on how all these parts behave together, so you can’t determine the final rating just by looking at the ratings of separate components.
Because of this, Building Control and certification bodies require a fire classification report for the fully installed system. This confirms the fire performance of the finished construction, not just the individual materials used.
